Beginning Wheel Throwing Tuesdays – May/June
Have you ever wanted to learn to make pottery on the wheel? Columbia Art Center offers Beginning Wheel Throwing classes for ages 15 years and up, Tuesdays from 6 to 8 pm for six weeks, in multiple sessions throughout the year: March 10th through April 14th, May 5th through June 9th, July 7th through August 11th, September 8th through October 13th, and November 10th through December 15th. This course will teach students the basics of throwing pottery, including centering the clay on the wheel, throwing shapes, trimming, and glazing. At the end of the course, they may elect to re-take the class or advance to Next Step Wheel Throwing or Wheel Throwing 102. Instructors Elisabeth Donato, Jessica Hall and Scott Nelson alternate between sessions. The registration fee covers instruction and operational costs. Students must have their own pottery tool kit (available at the Art Center for $10). Each session requires a minimum enrollment of three and a maximum of six. The registration deadline is two weeks before the first class.
